For the second time in two days, India on Friday test fired its most sophisticated short-range surface-to-air missile, the Press Trust of India reported.

The "Trishul" missile, developed by India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), was fired from a mobile launcher at 11:20 a.m. local time (0550 GMT) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur near Balasore, east India, said the report.

The missile, about three meters in length and 200 cm in diameter, was directed at a moving object during the test, it added.

The solid fuel propellant missile, which can carry a warhead weighing 15 kg, has a triple battlefield role for the army, navy and air force and has a range of nine km.

The ongoing trials were intended to gauge the accuracy and other parameters of the missile, said the report.

Trishul, which flies at supersonic speed, is part of India's Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP).

India successfully test-fired Trishul Thursday.
