The Chinese mainland remains on high alert against a possible return of SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome).
A
Ministry of Health
spokesman made the remark here Wednesday, following news that a
Taiwan
researcher had contracted the disease.
He said no confirmed or suspected SARS cases had been found so far on the Chinese mainland.
The ministry learned from the Internet that a researcher in Taiwan had been infected with SARS, and is now undergoing medical treatment.
The ministry is keeping a close eye on the SARS situation in Taiwan, the spokesman said.
