Top Spanish fashion brand adds 3 stores in HK this year
Gagan (HK) Ltd, the franchisee of the well-known Spanish fashion brand "MANGO" has significantly expanded its operations in Hong Kong. There are now six MANGO stores in major Hong Kong shopping malls.

Chief Executive Officer of Gagan (HK) Ltd, Kesri Singh made theremarks Tuesday while welcoming the visit of the Associate Director-General for Investment Promotion Simon Galpin at the Festival Walk store, MANGO's largest outlet.
Explaining why the company increased its presence in Hong Kong,Singh said, "Hong Kong is an international cosmopolitan city and alot of trends in Asia follow Hong Kong. Therefore, it was imperative that we emphasize Hong Kong as part of our long-term strategy for developing the brand in Asia."
Gagan (HK) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Singaporean-based distributor and retailer RSH Ltd, is the MANGO franchisee for China's Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. The company opened itsfirst MANGO store in Hong Kong three years ago, and has shown immense growth. Gagan employs 80 staff in Hong Kong.
MANGO is designed and manufactured by PUNTA FA.S.L., an internationally renowned company which designs, manufactures and markets reasonably priced clothes and accessories for women.
Headquartered in Barcelona, it is the second largest Spanish exporter in the textile sector. Beginning in 1984, MANGO has grownto over 600 stores in nearly 70 countries throughout Europe, Asia,Africa and South America.
Singh said, "The Chinese mainland market is growing and becoming more sophisticated. It is a competitive advantage for retailers based in Hong Kong to become familiar with the shopping habits and preferences of customers from the Chinese mainland before entering that market."
"We have already invested 5 million US dollars in Hong Kong forMANGO. We will continue to explore adding more stores within the existing brand portfolio, as well as look into the possible of other new concepts," Singh said.
Simon Galpin, who went to MANGO's store for congratulating Gagan (HK) Ltd on its success, said, "The successful launch of theMANGO brand in Hong Kong - as well as the numerous other labels that have opened new stores this year - provide excellent examplesof the unlimited potential for strong, unique brands to grow and thrive here."
Galpin said,"In addition to retailing and showcasing fashion brands, Hong Kong also is an ideal trading platform for purchasing,outsourcing, manufacturing, distributing, designing and developingnew fashion products."
"We welcome MANGO and other great brands, and are ready to assist them in growing their operations here and using Hong Kong as a base for expansion in the region, including the Chinese mainland," he added.
Invest Hong Kong is a government department dedicated to attracting and retaining overseas investment.
