China dominates first day at Asian weightlifting tourney
Chinese budding lifters dominated the first day competitions at the Asian Junior Inter-club Weightlifting Championships as they grabbed most of the medals on offer in Shenyang of north China's Liaoning Province on Monday.
Chinese budding lifters dominated the first day competitions at the Asian Junior Inter-club Weightlifting Championships as they grabbed most of the medals on offer in Shenyang of north China's Liaoning Province on Monday.
Chinese weightlifters clean swept all the gold medals of the women's 53kg and 58kg categories. Hu Chunyue, 13, took the three golds of 53kg class while her two years senior Deng Ning took home the three titles from the women's 58kg class.
The three gold medals for the men's 56kg were also taken by Chinese lifter as Lin Zhihua beat Tanasak Phanaim of Thailand to the second place in snatch, clean and jerk and total. Another Chinese Wang Liang settled for the three bronze medals.
The men's 63kg class was won by Sadegh Ghorbani of Iran. The bronze medalist in the 2002 World Junior Weightlifting Championships beat his Chinese opponents Zhang Feng and Fu Da to the second and third places respectively.
Thai lifters finished one-two in the women's 48kg class as Pensiri Saelaw beat her compatriot Aumnoyporn to the second place. Wang Dandan of China took the bronze medal.
The Asian Junior Inter-club Weightlifting Championships began on Monday and end on Wednesday.
