The Chinese Manufacturer's Association of Hong Kong (CMA) has delivered a proposal to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government (HKSAR) to set up an institution to promote Hong Kong brands.
Attending the opening ceremony of the 38th Hong Kong Products Expo (HKPE) Saturday, CMA President Chan Wing Kee said that the CMA has suggested setting up an institution called Brand Development Council to promote Hong Kong brands.
Chan said that the Hong Kong-made products are quite famous in the world, but most of the Hong Kong manufacturers are producing for overseas brands. He said if the council is set up, more and more new Hong Kong brands will come out.
Chan said that the CMA will meet John Tsang, secretary for commerce, industry and technology of HKSAR, to discuss the proposal.
