Leaders of China, Canada vow to further deepen relations

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien vowed Thursday the two countries would further deepen their relations through joint efforts.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien vowed Thursday the two countries would further deepen their relations through joint efforts.

During a meeting with Chretien, Wen raised several proposals for stronger ties between the two countries, and Chretien said the Canadian government fully agreed to them, according to a press release from the Chinese delegation.

Wen proposed that contacts and exchange at all levels be continued and a ministerial coordinating mechanism be set up to discuss strategic issues including political and economic relations.
