Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri on Thursday asserted that dialogue is the only means to achieve a lasting solution of the Kashmir issue, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Speaking at a news briefing in Lahore, capital of Punjab province, Kasuri said Pakistan and India have fought three times over Kashmir but achieved nothing.

"Therefore, the best way to resolve this lingering issue and other matters is a composite dialogue between Pakistan and India,"he said, adding the wishes of the Kashmiri people must also be considered as they are also a party to the issue.

Kasuri said the status of no war and no peace is fraught with danger and could easily destabilize South Asia and that it is necessary for Pakistan and India to work for lasting peace in the region.

He stressed that maturity, flexibility and statesmanship are needed to solve the Kashmir issue.
