Italy took the title of men's volleyball competitions at the third Military World Games (MWG) on Wednesday night, beating China in the final 3-1.

The final scores was 25-21, 26-28, 25-21 and 25-20 in Italy's favor.

"Generally speaking, we showed our normal form today," said Chen Gang, the head coach of China, "But we had problems with our serving."

"We made too many errors in serving." he added.

China made 21 unforced errors during the four-set game, while Italy had 17.

After tied 1-1 in the first two sets, Italy were 10-2 ahead before the Chinese hit a purple patch and made the score 20-18. But cheered on by more than 200 home fans, Italy took the third set.

China then had to win the fourth set to force the tiebreaker, but the visiting side could not be saved by Chen Fang's 23 points and Peng Guo's 10 digs with the Italians, including top scorer Lako Michal on 27 points and Bruschi Leonardo and Picsopo Cosimo Marco proving too good.

"It is pity losing the final." said Chen, "But our players are better than my expectation. I didn't think we can advance into thefinal before we started competing here."

Earlier, South Korea had beaten Cameroon in the third-place play-off 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20).
