Indonesia-China capital market watchdogs establish cooperation

The Indonesian Capital Market Supervisory Agency (Bapepam) and the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) signed here Tuesday an agreement on bilateral cooperation in capital market development.

The Indonesian Capital Market Supervisory Agency (Bapepam) and the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) signed here Tuesday an agreement on bilateral cooperation in capital market development.

Signed between Bapepam head Herwidayatmo and CSRC executive vice chairman Fan Fuchu, the agreement covers cooperation in law enforcement and information exchange between capital markets in both countries.

The CSRC is the eighth Bapepam's partner as the agency already signed similar Memoranda of Understanding with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Malaysia Securities Commission, Australia Securities and Investment Commission, Sri Lanka Securities Commission, Philippines Securities Commission and Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission.

In the sidelines of the signing ceremony, the CSRC delegates visited the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) and discussed current issues in both countries' bourses with JSX directors.
