Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei on Tuesday denied the failure of the inter-Palestinian dialogue held in Cairo under Egyptian sponsorship.

Qurei told reporters in the West Bank town of Ramallah that "we have accomplished a major progress at the Cairo talks with different factions that are aware of the importance of the Palestinian people's higher interests."

Hamas representative Ismail Haneya told reporters on Tuesday that the Cairo dialogue had narrowed differences between the factions regarding many issues and the talks would continue.

After four days of negotiations, 13 Palestinian factions concluded their meeting in Cairo on Sunday without achieving a total ceasefire or a partial one as Hamas and other hardline groups held firm stance, asking Israel to meet conditions first.
