Machinery, electronics fair across Taiwan strait set for next April

Preparations for the eighth China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition (CXMEE), a commoditiesfair between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, is proceeding well, according to an official of the CXMEE.

Preparations for the eighth China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition (CXMEE), a commoditiesfair between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, is proceeding well, according to an official of the CXMEE.

Approved by the Ministry of Commerce, the trade fair is due for April 12 to 15 next year, in Xiamen city, east China's Fujian province.

The official said Sunday the fair would provide exhibitors with 1,300 booths in the 26,000-sq-m exhibition hall, which would be divided into four areas, respectively for opto-electronic products, normal machinery, special machinery and automobiles, electrical appliances and metal wares.

The major opto-electronics exhibitors were makers of opto-electronic elements, opto-electronic communication equipment and laser devices, noted the official.

According to the CXMEE committee, six seminars would be held inthe meantime. Topics ranging from cross-strait cooperation on machinery and electronics production to the making and management of communication devices would be under discussion so that firms could introduce more effective operation mechanisms.

The fair is welcomed by both Taiwanese and mainland enterprises.The number of exhibitors keeps rising on an annual basis. According to the CXMEE committee, the fair exerts a great impact not only on China's machinery and electronics market but also on that of Southeast Asia and even the world.
