Indian Union Minister of State for External Affairs Digvijay Singh said Saturday that talks for revival of rail links between India and Pakistan would be held in New Delhi on Dec. 18.

"India has invited Pakistani officials to the country to finalize the modalities for reestablishing rail links between both countries. Discussions will be held at New Delhi on December 18," the Press Trust of India quoted him as saying in Chennai, the capital of south India's Tamil Nadu state.

Showing his satisfaction over several confidence-building measures announced by both countries, Singh said he was happy about the progress in the normalization of relationship between India and Pakistan.

The air links between the two countries would be restored from Jan. 1, he added.
