US welcomes non-proliferation efforts made by China

The US Department of State welcomed the efforts made by the Chinese government in preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction upon the latter's publication of a white paper entitled "China's Non-Proliferation Policy and Measures".

The US Department of State welcomed the efforts made by the Chinese government in preventing the spread of weapons of mass destruction upon the latter's publication of a white paper entitled "China's Non-Proliferation Policy and Measures".

The United States welcomes China's efforts in preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, missiles, conventional weapons and related materials and technologies through tighter export control regulations, a spokesman with the Department said at a news briefing, December 3.

The United States will continue its cooperation with China on this issue through the ongoing non-proliferation talks, the spokesman said, adding that China has enacted good legislation on this issue and expressing the hope of its implementation and enforcement.

The Information Office of the State Council issued on December 3 the white paper on China's non-proliferation policy and measures, which elaborated on the nation's basic stance on non-proliferation, active participation in international non-proliferation efforts, non-proliferation export control system, concrete measures for non-proliferation export control, strict implementation of the laws and regulations on non-proliferation export control.
