Geneva Accord shows Palestinian peace partner for Israel: Arafat's aide
Ahmed Abdel Rahman, an advisor to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, said Sunday that the Geneva Accord peace initiative showed there is a peace partner for the Israelis.
Ahmed Abdel Rahman, an advisor to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, said Sunday that the Geneva Accord peace initiative showed there is a peace partner for the Israelis.
"Reaching an agreement like the Geneva Accord confirmed the opposite of what Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon claims that the Palestinians are not a peace partner for Israel," Rahman told reporters.
About 300 Palestinian and Israeli representatives, including former ministers, parliamentarians, peace activists and businessmen, are going to Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the signing ceremony for the accord.
Speaking to the Voice of Palestine radio, Rahman said the Geneva Accord peace plan "has badly damaged the political program of Sharon's government."
"Sharon has said that the Geneva Accord for him is more dangerous than the Oslo peace treaty" while the Palestinian leadership welcomed the document, he said.
"Sharon can never change his skin and become a man for peace," Rahman said, adding "the counting for the collapse of his government has started, especially after the Israelis conceived that his political and security programs had achieved a great failure."
