The Democratic People's Republicof Korea (DPRK) will always welcome any international humanitarianaid, but strongly opposing any attempt to make use of humanitarianaid for political purposes, a spokesman for the DPRK's Flood Damage Measure Committee said on Friday.
The remarks were made following a recent appeal by United Nations-affiliated agencies and non-governmental organizations that the international community render a 220-million-US-dollar humanitarian aid to the DPRK.
The appeal shows the international community's concern and goodwill towards the DPRK, the spokesman said.
He noted that the humanitarian aid to the DPRK will help deepenthe mutual understanding and trust between the DPRK and the rest of the world, and ensure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The DPRK will continue expanding the cooperation with United Nations agencies, governmental or non-governmental organizations, he added.
According to a recent report conducted by the United Nations-affiliated agencies and non-governmental organizations, the DPRK is facing difficulties in its fight against malnutrition, malaria and the lack of access to drinkable water due to the decreasing humanitarian aid from the international community.
