A documentary titled "Mao Zedong -A Charismatic Leader" will debut soon in China to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth of the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong.
Published by the Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd, the documentary includes film footage dating from 1938 which has never been seen before by the general public.
"People are not familiar with the real life and thinking of this outstanding leader, apart from his behavior in the historical events, especially the younger generation. That's why we made the film," said Guo Benmin, deputy head of the Central News Records Film Studio.
"Thanks to the people who made and kept the records, we can get to know Mao better 27 years after his death," said Teng Jinxian, former director of the State Administration of Film.
Mao died in 1976 and Dec. 26 this year is the 110th anniversary of his birthday.
