China welcomes Indian FM's speech on China policy
China "welcomes and appreciates" Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha's speech on its policy regarding China, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said Tuesday.

In response to a reporter's question on China's reaction to the speech made by Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha last Saturday, Liu said China pays great attention to the speech which demonstrated apositive keynote to China.
"We extend our welcome and appreciation of the speech," Liu said.
He said India is a very important neighbor of China and promoting friendship with neighboring countries is a very important component of Chinese diplomacy.
China is willing to further improve the long-term constructive cooperative partnership with India, based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Liu said, which not only complies with the interests of the two nations and two peoples, but also benefits regional peace and stability.
Liu recalled Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's visit to China in June this year, saying the visit signified that China-India relations entered a new era.
China is satisfied with the positive growing momentum of Sino-Indian ties and is willing to explore cooperative relations with India in all aspects, the spokesman said.
Currently, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, is paying a visit to India. Liu said he was convinced that Jia's visit will boost the understanding and friendship between the two countries and their peoples and further improve bilateral relations.
