CPPCC Chairman arrives in New Delhi
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), arrived in New Delhi Sunday afternoon for an official goodwill visit to India at the invitation of Vice-President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha of India Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

In his written remarks delivered upon arrival at the airport, Jia said the friendship between the two peoples has an early root,and China cherishes such traditional friendship and is committed to developing good neighborly, friendly and mutually-beneficial cooperation with India on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence.
He said he will hold a candid exchange of views with leaders of India on bilateral relations and other issues of common interests.
He hoped this visit will add momentum to the growth of Sino-Indian relationship and facilitate exchange and cooperation between the CPPCC and Indian friends across all sectors, and promote the China-India constructive partnership in a sound and steady manner.
India is the first leg of Jia's visit to five south Asian nations and he is also scheduled to visit Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan.
