Visiting Defense Ministers of Togo and Kyrgyzstan told Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Ju separately Thursday that their governments will continue to firmly uphold the one-China concerning the issue of Taiwan.

Togo Minister of Defense Assani Tidjani said the Government of Togo always believes that there is only one China in the world and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory.

Kyrgyzstan Defense Minister Esen Topoyev said Kyrgyzstan thinks that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China and that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole Chinese people.

"It is now a common sense of the government and people of Kyrgyzstan," he stressed.

During a meeting with Huang Ju, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Togo defense minister also congratulated China for its first manned space flight, saying it was a source of pride for third world nations.

Huang said China always pays special attention to its relations with Togo and other African nations.

Over the past three decades after China established full diplomatic relations with Togo, the two countries have supported, understood and respected each other, and shared common interests on many issues, Huang Ju said.

He said he believes the Togo minister's visit to China will enhance the friendship and cooperation between the African country and China.

Topoyev said China is an important country that his country hopes to strengthen relations with as China is playing an increasingly important role in the world arena.

Huang said it would serve the fundamental interests of both China and Kyrgyzstan to develop friendly relations as they are close neighbors.

China and Kyrgyzstan signed a treaty on establishing good-neighborly and cooperative relations last year. Huang said the treaty will further promote bilateral relations to new highs.
