Chief of Staff of Israeli Defense Forces Moshe Ya'alon on Sunday warned Syria against supporting Palestinian radical organizations and Hezbollah, and hinted that Israel might again attack targets in Syria if Damascus continues to provide such support.

Lieutenant General Ya'alon made the warning during a lecture at Tel Aviv University's Dayan Center.

"If Syria ignores the messages Israel has sent it, it may be necessary to send additional messages," Ya'alon said.

"As long as the command headquarters of the Palestinian terror organizations in Damascus continue to operate and Syria allows terror to be conducted against Israel from Lebanon, Syria will bear responsibility for this and Lebanon will suffer disquiet," headded.

Last week, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesman's Office issued a similar warning following multi-force maneuvers in the Northern Command. However, the Dayan Center speech marks the firsttime that Ya'alon has issued such a warning.

On Oct. 5, Israeli jet fighters bombed a Palestinian refugee camp near Syrian capital Damascus in retaliation for a suicide bombing attack in the northern Israeli city of Haifa which killed 19 people.

It was the first such attack since Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 when Israeli forces struck targets deep inside Syrian territory, and sparked strong international condemnation.
