China, UN to co-sponsor UN meeting on Palestine issue in Beijing
At the request of the United Nations (UN), The Chinese government and the United Nations will co-sponsor the UN Asian Meeting on the Question of Palestine in Beijing from Dec. 16 to 18, announced Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao here Thursday.

Liu told a regular press conference that with the theme of "Mobilizing International Support for a Peaceful Solution of the Question of Palestine", the meeting will have about 200 participants, including officials from the United Nations and relevant countries, experts and scholars on the Middle East issue.
According to Liu, during the meeting, the United Nations and China's Beijing University will jointly hold a non-governmental organization meeting on the Middle East issue.
Liu said that as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has long been and will as always be committed to the Middle East peace process.
