China always supports and actively participates in international anti-terrorism cooperation, and is willing to work with all parties to promote the international anti-terrorism fight, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said here Tuesday.

Liu said at a regular press conference that China's persistent stand is to firmly oppose all forms of terrorism.

China holds that the anti-terrorism fight should be based on the UN Charter and international laws.

"We should not relate terrorism to a particular country, ethnicgroup or religion," Liu said.

The latest terrorist attack in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, suggested that the current anti-terrorism situation is not optimistic, Liu said, noting that countries in the world should further cooperation in the anti-terrorism field.

Liu said that countries should have a new idea of security, which means to handle non-traditional challenges such as terrorismon the basis of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and cooperation.

Countries should make efforts to promote multilateralism and combat terrorism under the leadership of the United Nations and the UN Security Council, Liu noted.

Countries should also find a solution to regional conflicts, eliminating the roots of terrorism at the same time, Liu added.

The spokesman said that China has already established dialogue mechanism of various forms in the anti-terrorism fight with a dozen of countries, and China hopes to enhance cooperation with all parties in anti-terrorism.
