Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa began his visit to east China's coastal city of Qingdao Friday night with the aim of exploring business opportunities in fields such as textile, agriculture and manufacturing.
During his three-day stay in Qingdao, the president will visit the city's textile, agriculture, fertilizer and fruit-processing sectors. He will sign a series of agreements with the local government on cooperation in garment manufacturing, cotton planting and processing, and production of fertilizer and pesticide.
President Mwanawasa told a China-Zambia business seminar Fridayin Beijing that Zambia has good cooperation relations with China but there is still much room for strengthening cooperation in the areas of investment and trade.
"Zambia has a lot of admiration for China in that China is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. I do believe that Zambia stands to gain greatly if Chinese businessmen invested in our country in various sectors of our economy," he said.
Mwanawasa arrived in Beijing Wednesday afternoon for a seven-day state visit to China, at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.
