Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei said he was ready for a conditional meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Ramallah-based Al Ayyam Daily reported Wednesday.

"If we agree on holding a meeting, we must agree on everything that will be discussed in the meeting and that might come out of it," Qurei said in an interview published by the newspaper.

He bluntly rejected to come out of any meeting only with easing security measures, such as removing a roadblock or increasing the number of Palestinians working in Israel.

"What we are looking to achieve in the meetings is a total stop of all kinds of Israeli military actions in the Palestinian territories, such as assassinations of Palestinians, incursions andexpansion of settlements," Qurei said.

He disclosed that the first thing he was looking to achieve withthe Israelis is to bring back confidence between the two sides after it had been destroyed by the wave of violence.

Meanwhile, Qurei said he had sent a letter to the speaker of thePalestinian legislative Council (PLC), asking the council to convene as soon as possible to approve the new wide Palestinian government, despite the differences over the competences of the interior minister.

Israeli officials earlier said a meeting between Qurei and Sharon was expected to take place within the coming few days.
