China's Navy fosters defense cadets in civilian university
On November 3, the signing ceremony of jointly fostering military officers agreement between the PLA Navy and the Nanchang Institute of Aviation Technology was held in Nanchang Jiangxi Province. Since then the Nanchang Institute of Aviation Technology has become the first civilian college to foster national defense cadets for the Navy in China.

According to the agreement, from 2003 on, both parties foster military cadres in 6 forms: the institute can enroll national defense cadets from high schools and assign them to the Navy upon graduation; select national defense cadets from the undergraduates of the institute; select the outstanding graduates from bachelors and graduate cadets directly to join the Navy; the Navy and the institute jointly foster the cadets in stages; the institute can recommend some of the outstanding graduate cadets to take part in the entrance examinations of graduate student courses of the military universities of the Navy and join the service at the same time; select cadres from the Navy to study postgraduate courses in the Nanchang Institute of Aviation Technology.
Through strict selection, the Nanchang Institute of Aviation Technology has enrolled 40 national defense cadets from Jiangxi Province, Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province. In addition, the institute has selected 60 national defense cadets from the undergraduates. The selected 100 national defense cadets will received military training in the institute and will be enrolled in the Navy to carry out aviation technological support tasks. (PLA Daily)
