China baseball makes it to final round of Asian Championship

China whitewashed Pakistan 19-0 on Sunday for its third straight win and made it to the final round of the Asian Championship baseball tournament in Sapporo, Japan.

China whitewashed Pakistan 19-0 on Sunday for its third straight win and made it to the final round of the Asian Championship baseball tournament in Sapporo, Japan.

The top two teams from the seven-nation event will earn places in the baseball tournament at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

In an earlier game, Indonesia routed the Philippines 7-0 to give both teams records of 1-2.

China advanced to the final round to join Chinese Taipei, Japan and South Korea. Final-round play begins on Wednesday.
