Musharraf leaves for week-long visit to China, S.Korea

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has left Islamabad for a week-long visit to China and South Korea, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported Saturday.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has left Islamabad for a week-long visit to China and South Korea, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported Saturday.

He will first attend the Boao Forum for Asia Conference in China's Hainan province and then pay an official visit to Beijing from Nov. 1 to 5 for talks with top Chinese leadership.

Prior to his departure Friday night, Musharraf said he will have wide-ranging talks with Chinese leaders on political and economic ties.

He said he will also discuss regional and international issues including Afghanistan, Kashmir and Pak-Indo relations during his China trip which he described as "very important."

Musharraf believed that the visit will reaffirm the strong and time-tested friendship between Pakistan and China.

As for his visit to South Korea, Musharraf said that Pakistan has strong economic and trade ties with that country which need tobe further strengthened.

He said Pakistan and South Korea has great potential for undertaking joint ventures in trade and industry.
