Vice-Premier Wu Yi made the remarks when meeting with Lee Scott,president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of the United States.
Wu congratulated Wal-Mart on ranking first among the world's top 500 companies selected by Fortune magazine, expressing appreciation for the company's efforts in promoting Sino-US trade and economic cooperation and hoping Scott will make more contributions to the cooperation.
Scott expressed admiration for China's achievements since the reform and opening-up, saying Wal-Mart will go on propelling the two nations' friendship and cooperation. He added that he sincerely hopes China will make more achievements in its economic development and social progress.
