On October 28, Japanese lawyers of the Japanese lawyer delegation for Chinese war victims' claims for compensation visited Cui Yingxun, one of the victims of Japanese chemical weapons at his home in Harbin for investigation. The evidence acquired will be used for the second lawsuit at the Supreme Court of Japan.

On October 16, 1997, Japanese lawyers, on behalf of the 18 Chinese victims injured by chemical weapons, bombs abandoned by Japanese intruders during World War II, lodged twice the lawsuits to the Tokyo District Court, accusing the Japanese government and claiming apology and 20 million-yen compensation for each victim. On May 15, 2003, the Tokyo District Court pronounced its judgment on the two accusations: the 5 Chinese victim-plaintiffs lost the lawsuit. On May 16, the Chinese victims presented the lawsuit to an upper-level court with the help of Japanese lawyers.

This time, Onodera Tositaka and Minami Norio, two lawyers with the Japanese lawyer delegation in charge of the lawsuit of the chemical weapon injury paid a special visit to Harbin, renewing the collection of evidences on the suffering of Cui Yingxun.

Wang Shujin, wife of Cui Yingxun told the reporter that in August 1950, two jars of toxicant were excavated at the construction site of the former No. 1 Normal School of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. Workers asked Cui Yingxun, a chemistry teacher to identify the substance. Cui smeared a little liquid on his hand, and rinsed it off when he found he made a mistake but failed to make up for his damage. Cui Yingxun and his colleague teacher Wang Shuzhen were diagnosed by the Japanese doctor there as injured by vesicant agent.

With the winning experience of the lawsuit on chemical weapons on September 29, this time they will assist Japanese lawyers in the renewed collection of evidences on the victims who lost their lawsuit on May 15, said Su Xiangxiang, a Chinese lawyer in charge of the lawsuit of the chemical weapons. Information obtained will be presented to Japanese court at the end of this year as evidence for the new prosecution. (Photos from Xinhua)
