Two more cases of mad cow disease were reported in the Czech republic, raising the total number of infected cattle in the country to seven, veterinary authorities said on Monday.

The latest case was found on a farm in Lomnic Nad Popelkou, in the north of the country. The three-year-old animal is the youngest among the seven infected cattle found in the country so far, with the others aged between six and eight.

The other case was reported on Oct. 21 in the south.

The government has taken strict inspection and quarantine measures against the disease since June 2001, when the first mad cow case was found in the country. About 450,000 cattle have been quarantined in the country, but the source of infection remains unknown.
