Foreign trade goes up in Beijing

In breakdown, exports made up 5.21 billion US dollars, up 28.3 percent, while imports were 8.26 billion US dollars, a rise of over 40 percent, said sources from Beijing Customshouse.
According to the sources, machinery and electronic products were main commodities on Beijing's foreign trade list. The city exported 3.35 billion US dollars worth of machinery and electronic products from January to September, up 34.1 percent or accounting for 64.3 percent of the city's export total.
During the same period, Beijing also imported 6.25 billion US dollars, up 36.8 percent or making up 75.7 percent of the city's import total, said the customs sources.
Most of Beijing's imported commodities come from Asian countries and regions, and the city's export to Europe in the first nine months was almost double the figure for the corresponding period last year to hit 1.67 billion US dollars.
Overseas financed businesses are key players in the city's foreign trade drive, according to the customs sources.
