Premier Wen inspects Three Gorges reservoir area

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao underlined economic development in the Three Gorges reservoir area, the relocation of migrants, environmental protection and construction quality of the reservoir during his inspection of the reservoir area on Oct. 24-26.

Wen visited the new residential areas for people resettled fromthe reservoir area, calling for efforts to promote economic growth and create jobs for the residents from Hubei Province and Chongqing Municipality.

Government departments involved should step up efforts to facilitate environmental protection and pollution control, he said, calling for substantial efforts to guard against natural disastersand improve water pollution treatment as well as ensure the quality of the reservoir project.
