German 2006 World Cup organizers said on Saturday they face financial problems in renovating some of the stadiums.
"We will have the most modern stadiums in the world in the 2006 but, unlike what had been planned, substantial public funding willbe needed," German organizing committee vice president Horst Schmidt said in Frankfurt.
Schmidt cited the example of Frankfurt but said other venues were also having problems.
"Frankfurt have been trying for months to find an operator (to renovate their stadium) but there are other cities where the situation is extremely complicated," he said.
Twelve venues have been selected for the finals. The final willbe in Berlin, whose Olympic stadium is undergoing a major facelift. The opening match will be played in a new stadium being built in Munich.
