China's national capital, Beijing, will set up a special zone for the trading of more than 270 varieties of goods manufactured in Hong Kong next year.
These Hong Kong products will come into the zone at zero customs duty under the Mainland/Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), which takes effect on January 1, 2004.
It means that local residents will be able to buy Hong Kong goods at cheaper prices, according to Acting Magistrate Chen Gang of Chaoyang District, where the zone is to be located.
Chaoyang is working hard to build up a CBD (Central Business District). The CEPA zone will provide HK businessmen with more opportunities, the official said.
