Shanghai to establish world expo bureau

The Shanghai world expo bureau, the official body in charge of organizing the expo, is to be established in the next few days, Shanghai municipal government spokesperson Jiao Yang said Wednesday .

The Shanghai world expo bureau, the official body in charge of organizing the expo, is to be established in the next few days, Shanghai municipal government spokesperson Jiao Yang said Wednesday .

Jiao noted that the bureau would replace the Shanghai expo office and would be responsible for establishing a cooperation center and land reserve center.

The cooperation center would be responsible for expo buildings construction, ticket sales, promotions and logistics assistance, while the land reserve center would requisition, reserve and develop land for the expo, said Jiao.

Shanghai, the country's leading industrial and commercial center in east China, won the bid to host the 2010 World Expo last December and the expo is also the first registered world expo hosted by a developing country.
