Chinese foreign trade rises in first nine months

China's foreign trade volume in the first nine months of 2003 reached 606.26 billion US dollars, up 36.2 percent from the same period last year, the latest customs figures show.

China's foreign trade volume in the first nine months of 2003 reached 606.26 billion US dollars, up 36.2 percent from the same period last year, the latest customs figures show.

From January to September, total exports grew 32.3 percent to 307.7 billion US dollars, while imports rose 40.5 percent to 298.56 billion US dollars. The trade surplus was 8.86 billion US dollars.

In September, China's monthly foreign trade totaled 83.59 billion US dollars, 35.5 percent more than the same month last year. Exports amounted to 41.94 billion US dollars, while imports reached 41.65 billion US dollars.
