Chinese soccer player Sun Jihai has helped his English Premiership side Manchester City to advance into the second round of the UEFA Cup.

Chinese soccer player Sun Jihai has helped his English Premiership side Manchester City to advance into the second round of the UEFA Cup.

Nicolas Aneilka scored the lone goal in City's 1-nil victory over Lokeren on the Belgians' home turf Wednesday night. That made the aggregate scores in the two-leg opening round series 4-2 favoring Sun's team, and pushed the English club into the second round of their first European appearance in many years.

Sun Jihai was given a team high performance score of 8 points by English media who were impressed by his hustling defense.(CRI)
