The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee with Hu Jintao as general secretary is deeply supported and trusted by the whole Party and people, according to an editorial by the People's Daily, China's leading newspaper.
The editorial, to be published Wednesday, is titled "A System Guarantee for Building an Affluent Society in a Balanced Way", and marks the conclusion of the Third Plenum of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
The editorial hails the CPC session as an important meeting, convened when the country is making historic advancement toward building an affluent society under the guidance of the 16th CPC National Congress.
Since the convening of the First Plenum of the CPC Central Committee last November, the new CPC leadership with Hu Jintao as general secretary has experienced the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), severe natural disasters, a complicated international situation, and heavy tasks of the reformand opening drive, according to the editorial.
All these experiences demonstrate that the new CPC leadership adheres to the political lines and policies of the CPC since its historic Third Plenum of the 11th Central Committee in 1978, and constantly upholds Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory.
The leadership also upholds the important thought of "Three Represents", and will constantly take the socialist road with Chinese characteristics engineered by Deng Xiaoping, and adhered to and developed by the third-generation central leadership with Jiang Zemin at the core, the editorial says.
It hails the resolution adopted by the session as a guiding document for further deepening economic restructuring and promoting social and economic development.
A decade ago, the Third Plenum of the 14th CPC Central Committee passed a resolution on the establishment of a socialist market economy in China and the 16th CPC National Congress held last year mapped out strategic arrangements for the improvement ofthe socialist market economy, the editorial recalls.
It is a big, historic stride toward building a socialist marketeconomy, it says.
