The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) urged Israel to desist and rescind its decision on pursuing any act of deportation, forced exile and eventhe elimination of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, Malaysia's foreign minister said here Monday.

Acting also as chairman of the ministerial preparatory meeting for the 10th OIC summit, Syed Hamid Albar said at the opening session of the meeting that such a decision by Israel could further complicate the already extremely delicate situation.

He stressed that the Israeli security cabinet's decision on Sept. 11 2003 to eliminate Arafat to the extent of killing him is clearly an act of state terrorism which is against international law.

He said the OIC is concerned with Israel's threat against the personal safety of Yasser Arafat.

The foreign minister said the situation in Palestine is grave indeed, adding "We condemn the vicious attacks and the killing of Palestinian civilians during Israeli incursion into Palestine."

He said the Israeli army's vicious military campaigns, provocation and the destruction of Palestinian homes will only lead to a spiraling upheaval in the already volatile region.

He said Israel should immediately cease its military incursionsand all acts of violence, terror, provocation, incitement and destruction in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The two-day ministerial preparatory meeting will be followed bya two-day OIC Summit meeting on Oct. 16-17, which is aimed at rejuvenating the world's largest Islamic organization.
