Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said here on Thursday that Pakistan is ready to encourage cease-fire with India along the Line of Control (LoC) which divides the two nuclear rivals in the disputed Kashmir region.

"But you can't clap with one hand. India has to be positive about this," Musharraf said at a press conference.

Islamabad, he said, has proposed many measures to improve relations with New Delhi, including a cease-fire along the LoC.

He said during his recent discussions with the US leadership, he raised the issue of Pakistan's concerns over "the military imbalance" in South Asian region.

Commenting on the West's opposition to some Islamic countries' possession of "the peaceful nuclear technology", the president said the Muslim nations have the right to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

However, he said, Pakistan considers the use of nuclear technology for military purposes its basic right as the country isfaced with the threat of "an atomic conflict."
