Vietnam welcomes China's joining Treaty of Amity, Cooperation in Southeast Asia
Vietnam welcomes the signing of a joint declaration on a strategic partnership for peace and prosperity by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China, and China's official accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation TAC) in Southeast Asia, said a Vietnamese spokesperson on Thursday.

When answering Xinhua's question, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Le Dung, said the signing of the treaty marks a new step for the bilateral relation, lively manifesting the enhanced mutual trust between ASEAN and China.
The declaration will form a stable framework for the comprehensive development of ASEAN-China relation in the future, he said.
The spokesman also noted that China's formal accession to the TAC upgrades the increasing role and prestige of ASEAN, opening upa prospect for turning TAC into a code of conducts between ASEAN and other countries outside the region.
TAC will serve as the foundation for settling outstanding issues, and will contribute to building and consolidating the multi-faceted friendly relationship between ASEAN and China, he added.
