Chinese mainland, Taiwan's third largest market
According to statistics from the Customs of Taiwan, Taiwan's export value in September reached US$12.56 billion, a yearly growth of 11.6 percent. This figure, a single-month new record high in export value since last April and the second highest since December 2000, demonstrates that Taiwan's trade is maintaining a momentum of expansion. Ever since last May, Chinese mainland has surpassed Europe to become Taiwan's third largest export market.
According to statistics from the Customs of Taiwan, Taiwan's export value in September reached US$12.56 billion, a yearly growth of 11.6 percent. This figure, a single-month new record high in export value since last April and the second highest since December 2000, demonstrates that Taiwan's trade is maintaining a momentum of expansion. Ever since last May, Chinese mainland has surpassed Europe to become Taiwan's third largest export market.
In September, Taiwan's import volume, with an annual increase rate of 4.1 percent, stood at 10.98 billion U.S. dollars, the single-month highest since February 2000. As a result, Taiwan's trade in September saw a favorable balance of 1.58 billion U.S. dollars, continuing the tendency of monthly surplus since March 2000.
According to Taiwan statistic officials, since last May, Taiwan's export to Chinese mainland has in terms of proportion exceeded that to Europe. China's Mainland has become Taiwan's third largest export market. In September, Taiwan's export value to the mainland hit 2.16 billion U.S. dollars, taking up 17.2 percent of the total while that to Europe stood at 1.72 billion U.S. dollars, a ratio of 13.7 percent.
Moreover, in September, Taiwan's export value saw an annual growth of 1.3 billion U.S. dollars in which the increased export to China's mainland valued at 1.135 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 86 percent of the total. The value of Taiwan's export to the Chinese mainland in September is also 1.1 times over the same month last year, indicating an increasingly higher growth rate of Taiwan's trade with the Chinese mainland.
