China, Vietnam hold seminar on party theories

A two-day seminar on socialism and the market economy was jointly launched Wednesday in Beijing by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

A two-day seminar on socialism and the market economy was jointly launched Wednesday in Beijing by the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Liu Yunshan, member of the Political Bureau and the Secretariatof the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Nguyen Phu Trong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee and chairman of the theoretical committee of the CPV Central Committee, delivered reports at the opening ceremony.

Liu said such an event offered the two parties opportunities toexchange theoretical research results and practical experience, which would improve their understanding of socialist construction and promote their friendship and cooperation.

Nguyen said "socialism and the market economy" was a very important theoretical topic with great practical significance, andVietnam hoped the seminar would enhance theoretical exchanges and cooperation between the two parties.

Prior to the opening ceremony, Liu exchanged views with the guests on the two parties' theoretical work.
