Explosion hits Iraqi foreign ministry in Baghdad

The compound of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry in central Baghdad was hit by an explosion on Tuesday, witnesses said.

The compound of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry in central Baghdad was hit by an explosion on Tuesday, witnesses said.

The witnesses said the explosion was triggered by an apparent car bomb outside the ministry building, near the palace complex which hosts the US-led occupation authorities.

No reports of casualties were immediately known at present.
