Germany, who lost to the hosts 3-2 in the last World Cup four years ago, produced the biggest upset victory in the World Cup through Kerstin Garefrekes, who opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a header.
Sandra Meinert added the second one minute into the stoppage time in the second half, shooting past US 'keeper Briana Scurry from close range.
Just two minutes later, Birgit Prinz, who had scored six goals in the tournament, found the net again to seal the victory 3-0.
The European champions will vie for the title with winner of another semifinal game between Sweden and Canada to be held here later on Sunday.
