With tourism, transportation and public security departments and commercial enterprises fully motivated, the capital city of China is now ready for the upcoming"golden week" of the National Day holidays, which fall from Oct. 1 to 7.

According to Beijing Holiday Tourism Management Team, Beijing Capital International Airport is prepared to handle over 700 flights every day and personnel are assigned to coordinate transport in the airport area, to avoid traffic jams.

The local railway bureau will add 33 temporary railway cars during the holidays. Meanwhile, Beijing Public Transportation Company plans to dispatch 10,300 cars every day.

It is expected that the local bus system will carry 87 million passengers from Sept. 30 to Oct. 7, and over 13.5 million people will use the subway system during the same period.

During the holidays, the Beijing transportation administration department will allocate 3,650 police officers to regulate local traffic every day. Traffic near tourist resorts such as Tian'anmen Square, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall will be put under strict control.

Meanwhile, department stores and shopping malls across the city have also launched a series of promotional activities in the "golden week".

Local industry and commerce administration departments have started a 10-day inspection of tourist resorts, parking areas, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and transportation companies to ensure products and service prices do not exceed reasonable levels.
