South Korean president decides to quit MDP

President Roh Moo-hyun decided Monday to quit the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) in a bid to alleviate political conflicts by the membership, spokesman of the Presidential Office Yoon Tai-young announced Monday.

President Roh Moo-hyun decided Monday to quit the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP) in a bid to alleviate political conflicts by the membership, spokesman of the Presidential Office Yoon Tai-young announced Monday.

"President Roh expressed his intention to give up his MDP membership during today's meeting of senior presidential secretaries," Yoon said.

Moreover, Lee Jie-hyun, deputy spokeswoman of the Presidential Office, said that Roh will submit his application to the MDP on Tuesday.
