The central committee approved the list of 24 names, includingat least 10 people who served in previous governments before the appointment of outgoing Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas in April, a senior Fatah official disclosed on condition of anonymity.
The key name on the list was that of general Nasser Yusuf, who will take over the interior ministry in the position formerly held by Mohammed Dahlan in the Abbas cabinet, the official added.
Qurei, 66, was chosen by Palestinian National Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat to form a new government after Abbas resigned on Sept. 6.
Qurei will continue consultations with Arafat as regards the guidelines for the new government and the tasks of ministers, Fatah central committee member Abbas Zaki told journalists after the Fatah Central Committee meeting, confirming that "Nasser Yusuf will be the interior minister."
Fatah executive committee member Hani al-Hassan also confirmed that "we discussed the names of the new cabinet and there is agreement within the Fatah Central Committee."
Half of the 24 positions would be filled with new faces and there is "good representation" for factions outside of Fatah, headded.
