Taiwan fighter plane crashes during training

A Taiwan air force fighter plane crashed Saturday in a regular training exercise. Both pilots, who bailed out from the plane, were rescued by fishermen from the Chinese mainland, and hospitalized. They are said to be in good condition.

A Taiwan air force fighter plane crashed Saturday in a regular training exercise. Both pilots, who bailed out from the plane, were rescued by fishermen from the Chinese mainland, and hospitalized. They are said to be in good condition.

Media reports said the "Jing Guo" fighter plane took off five minutes after half past twelve and was confirmed to have fallen into the ocean 19 minutes later.

An Official from the Taiwan Air Force said the accident was caused by a failure which cut the aircraft's power.

The "Jing Guo" fighter is made in Taiwan and has had a high rate of accidents since being put into use.
