Lao policemen receive drugs control training in China

Thirty Lao policemen started on Friday a training program on drugs control provided by Chinese authorities in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Thirty Lao policemen started on Friday a training program on drugs control provided by Chinese authorities in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Wei Xiaojun, an official with the China National Narcotics Control Commission, said the program would closely associate studywith practical work and the content would cover fields such as information collection, cooperation in fighting drugs and economicdevelopment based on legal crops rather than opium.

The training program was also held in May last year, said Wei.

The fruitful cooperation between China and Laos on drug controlstarted in June 1997 when police from both sides jointly cracked amassive drug trafficking ring. The two nations signed a landmark memorandum on anti-drugs campaigning in 2001.
